12. Victoria - Sooke - 75 km

20.04.2009

Awake at 7:30 am, I manage to leave at 10:30, after spending much on doing my first repair : replacing a broken cable, formerly holding my frontbag, using an old clothes hanger and some duct tape. First repair after only 3 days, is that a good sign?

To leave Victoria, I use the Galloping Goose Trail, a roughly flat trail for cyclists and pedestrians that crosses many forest areas.

I reach Sooke in the middle of the afternoon. A nice bay!

I stop in Sooke to buy half a litre of gas for my stove, and continue on a much hillier road to reach French Beach Park campsite (I had to sleep there, just for the name). I discover what will be a main rule in Canada : campgrounds have pit toilets, but no showers...

First trial with my fuel stove : success with quick noodles!

For the first time i can litterally see clouds appear on the ocean and fly above the land. Amazing.
